Managing passwords with Kee Pass

You can manage your passwords with kee pass allowing multi user and data base synchronization securly.

Holding the passwords on text file or excel file is dangerous. Attackers who Access your file system navigates and should find your passwords. You should say that “i have user login password so no one Access my files”. Yes other users can not Access your login but they are still Access the files without logging in. This is possible with malware/trojan scripts remotely or using live Linux OS image attaching USB drive physically. So you have to encrypt your OS drive if you don't want your files accessible physically.

Kee pass saves your passwords encrypted on a database file. You can manage and access your passwords entering your master password. If your hard drive is not encrypted, attackers who don't have the master password can not access your passwords.

Install kee pass on your desktop. It is available for all platforms. Enter your master password to enable your database. You will require this password everytime you access your DB. So be careful holding this password for you security.

You can clasify your passwords as groups. For instance; network devices and servers may be on different groups.

Multi user Access:
You can manage your passwords with your colleagues. So you should put your data base file on a shared folder as nfs, cif or ftp file. Everyone will work on single database with single master password. You can hold database file on both local and shared network folder or drive.

Createing network shared folder and attaching it to your system is another topic. You should attach or mount shared folder to your system using nfs, cifs, samba, url based ftp protocols.
You can Access your passwords double clicking the DB file and providing master password.

Synchronize your DB file:

Kee pass lets you to synronize your local and shared DB file. It merges the DB file so the latest version will be synchronized. To do this after creating DB file copy and paste it an change the backup file name as backup_DB or local_DB or remote_DB as you wish. You can choose working local file primarily, remote file as backup or vice versa. With using synch property you are able to synch your files in case of data lost and failure.

If you use mounted or attached network file use syncronize with file, if you are using ftp use the syncronize with URL. Kee pass has the ability of cloud synch using Google Drive and Dropbox. You should see the documentation for this.

Mind that who has the master key can access all passwords! So be careful holding and noting it.
